I just got bored.Justinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18030992882575439420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-22432913979667317992012-08-23T06:17:08.274-07:002012-08-23T06:17:08.274-07:00Your comments on The Hammer and the Blade reminded...Your comments on The Hammer and the Blade reminded me of your reaction to Redshirts. My reasons for really liking Kemp's novel is not because of the plot or in its uniqueness (or lack thereof), but more in the enjoyment factor I had in connecting with Egil (mostly) and Nix. Egil differs from other archetypal strongmen in that he is a semi-lost priest whose profession is an adversary to his religious calling. Nix is the adventurous secular counterpart. This interaction, for me, was interesting and fun throughout the novel. But as with Redshirts, I can see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone's style.Peterhttp://oddengine.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-84976918121815617742012-08-22T19:10:16.092-07:002012-08-22T19:10:16.092-07:00I almost purchased Bitter Seeds on audible this mo...I almost purchased Bitter Seeds on audible this month, but decided against it because of how tired I am of WWII. Might try it some day. And Starship Troopers is one of my favorite novels, just below Dune. Everyone should read it!Jordanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02255600465497523196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-38429329232326002842012-08-22T10:06:22.160-07:002012-08-22T10:06:22.160-07:00The History Channel has taken a step or two away f...The History Channel has taken a step or two away from its standing reputation as the source for all things WW2 by abandoning the history thing almost entirely. Seriously, take a look at this line up.

As for Starship Troopers, I share very little common ground with the philosophy espoused by the novel, but it very much enjoyed it.

The movie still makes me mad.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16504273309594020933noreply@blogger.com
