I'm thinking I might pick up the new release of Wolfe's Peace. It's my favorite work of his next to the New Sun tetralogy. Fractal Prince sounds good, but I never read the first in series. Only Superhuman could be a fun escape.Peterhttp://oddengine.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-28948837738936934632012-06-14T18:59:42.748-07:002012-06-14T18:59:42.748-07:00I will definitely pick up the new Erikson. I have ...I will definitely pick up the new Erikson. I have Huso's The Last Page sitting on my Nook now, but haven't started it. The Black Bottle may be a future purchase.

I was one of the ones who thought The Quantum Thief was ambitious but mediocre. It was detective noir that didn't bother to show the detective work. It was a heist thriller that never went over the plan. I would not call it hard science fiction because it is more high fantasy with a scientific facade--technology replaces the magic system, but it works the same way. There is a chance that I might read it, but not without some hesitation and not without reading a few negative reviews first.

As for Doctorow... I tried reading Little Brother when it came out, but it didn't take long to discover that I loathe leet speak in books even more than elsewhere. Haven't looked back.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16504273309594020933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-78732607478740309242012-06-14T18:56:18.997-07:002012-06-14T18:56:18.997-07:00New stuff from Doctorow always makes me happy. I'm interested in anything Gene Wolfe, as well.redheadhttp://littleredreviewer.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-49372273877841883362012-06-14T16:49:32.983-07:002012-06-14T16:49:32.983-07:00I'm all over Black Bottle, Fractal Prince, and...I'm all over Black Bottle, Fractal Prince, and Only Superhuman. Another would be The Rise of Ransom City, the sequel to The Half Made World. Man, the was a far-out Western.

I've read a few Doctorow's books(Someone Comes to Town, Down and Out in Magic Kingdom, Eastern Standard Tribe, and Overclocked). I think Someone Comes to Town and his short work are the best. He tends to cover a lot of the same themes about freedom, information, and society in most of it. You can get most of his novels and collections for free on his site. The Mad Hatterhttp://booktionary.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-52106920400729158332012-06-14T14:26:08.758-07:002012-06-14T14:26:08.758-07:00Definitely interested in FRACTAL PRINCE.Definitely interested in FRACTAL PRINCE.Paul Weimerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02444942522624902562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5978497880525976810.post-14299302511872189312012-06-14T14:22:45.931-07:002012-06-14T14:22:45.931-07:00Of the ones you mentioned, I'm only interested...Of the ones you mentioned, I'm only interested in the Erikson and maybe Only Superhuman.
