This is what I can up with:
1/17/94
Not a date the world recognizes. It's not 5/8/45 or 11/22/63 or 7/20/69 or 9/11/01. But, January 17, 1994, just outside Los Angeles, California, an earthquake struck. Fifty-seven people lost their lives and nearly nine thousand were injured. Twenty billion in property damage, it remains one of the most devastating natural disasters in history.
It was a seminal moment in my life for wholly different reasons.
What made you go with 9/11/2002 instead of 2001 or was that just a typo?
ReplyDeleteIt's a typo. You know what's worse is that I originally typed it at 9/11/03 and corrected it to 02. I'm clearly bad with dates.
DeleteInteresting guest post! I shared a link to this post today on my blog: http://authorjess.blogspot.com/2012/05/whats-up-wednesday-playing-blog-catch.html
ReplyDeleteI loved this post Justin. I know you said you struggled with writing it, but I think it's really good! And while I haven't read any Shannara books, I do have a similar feeling for Eddings and Lackey.
ReplyDeleteWHAT! Me struggle with a post? NEVER! ;)
DeleteThanks Mieneke. I'm so glad it went over well.
I share the feeling - not about Brooks but Lackey. And, yes, time is of the essence! Reading a book is like meeting a person : the moment of the meeting, the respective development, make it a success, a failure or an indifferent relation.
